Rachael Marjamaa

Rachael Marjamaa is a multidisciplinary artist based in Butte, Montana. Having a foundation in fiber art, her compositions draw inspiration from structures and motifs found in knitting patterns, and traditional Finnish ryijy/takana tapestries. Her artistic perspective is heavily influenced by her background in agriculture, upbringing in Butte, and the practical elegance of utilitarian artwork.

"I have taken part in multiple residencies including Open Air’s Philipsburg placement in 2022, and Tinworks “A kin to clay” residency in 2025. You can find my work across Montana including the Montana Museum of Arts and Cultures permanent collection, the Mainstope Gallery, the Clark Chateau, and Wild Rabbit Pottery. I learned ceramics at Hungry Hill Art center in Butte, and now teach ceramics for our community. My artistic journey has always been fueled by my love for learning new skills, and sharing those skills with others. As an artist I feel a heavy responsibility for helping others find mediums to express and ground themselves through craft."
